Our Car
There have been many rumours about this car over the years, even one saying it belonged to Winston Churchill, but the real story is the previous owner bought the car from a film set, it was used in numerous films, including the 'Big Job' in 1965 starrring Sid James, Sylvia Syms, Dick Emery and Joan Sims and 'Hot enough for June' starring Dirk Bogarde, Sylva Koscina and Robert Morley.

Our Daimler is classed as a limousine, which means that there is a division between the chauffeur's area and the passenger area although there are also saloon and coupe styles.
The car has lay dormant for many years, the previous owner, a Mr Roy Stewart, who sadly died in 2009, bought it as a sweetheart present for his wife and had intentions of restoring it but never got round to doing the restoration. It probably wasn't to bad when he bought it but over the years the weather has taken its toll on it, not helped by a leaking roof.
The restoration is going to be a long and complex job due to the deterioration in the bodywork and interior but we lots of love and hard work we hope to bring it back to as original condition as possible.

General
The DE36 was Britain's last straight-eight passenger car. The "36" stands for 36 horsepower (RAC rating). It was in production from 1946 to 1953 and featured a 5459cc eight-cylinder engine. Only 216 were made in total and there is no definitive on how many survive.
